Our History

1946: A Humble Beginning

The story of the India Pentecostal Church of God (IPC), Attoor began in 1946. Founded by Pastor D. Selvamony, the church was established with a singular, powerful vision: to plant a Pentecostal witness in the heart of the region.

In those early days, the ministry was defined by simplicity and sacrifice. Our first place of worship was built by hand using red soil clay, with a roof thatched from coconut tree leaves (ollai). It stood as a testament to the raw faith and dedication of our pioneers.

The Legacy of Pastor D. Selvamony (1946–1999)

For over five decades, Pastor Selvamony faithfully led the congregation. His ministry was built on the pillars of prayer, obedience, and an unwavering commitment to the Gospel. Upon his home call in 1999, he left behind a spiritual foundation that continues to guide our community today.

A New Chapter: Perseverance and Dedication

The mission was carried forward by Pastor S. Solomon, the son of our founder. As the congregation grew, so did the need for a permanent sanctuary. This vision faced many challenges, yet the believers remained steadfast in their commitment.

  • December 29, 2011: After years of collective effort, prayer, and “struggles turned into strength,” the new Church building was officially dedicated.

IPC Attoor Today

What began as a small clay structure has grown into a vibrant community of faith. We honor our past—the red soil and the thatched roofs—as we look forward to a future of continued service, spiritual growth, and community outreach.
